Smith Rock State Park, just 14 miles from Eagle Crest Resort, is considered the birthplace of modern American sport climbing, and has been called the sport climbing Mecca of the Pacific Northwest.
Just north of Redmond and 14 miles from Eagle Crest Resort, Smith Rock State Park protects a sanctuary of majestic rock spires that rise above the winding Crooked River in Central Oregon’s high desert. The Park features over 1,000 routes, most of which are bolted sport climbing routes, along with some aid routes, and many traditional climbs.
